The summer heat has officially settled over Tennessee, and the bass fishing on Lake Chickamauga is transitioning into deeper, structure-oriented patterns. As water temperatures rise, our Lake Chickamauga fishing guide trips are focusing on early morning and late evening bites to take advantage of the most active feeding windows.

Currently, the most consistent action is found on ledges and main-lake points. We are seeing success with a variety of presentations, primarily focusing on deep-water techniques. The fish are holding near drop-offs and river channel swings, where they can find cooler, oxygenated water.

What is Working Right Now:
Topwater: In the early morning hours, topwater baits around shallow cover are still producing bites from aggressive fish moving up to feed.

Jigs & Texas Rigs: Once the sun gets high, we are switching to heavy jigs and soft plastics, dragging them slowly along the ledges in 12–18 feet of water.

Crankbaits: Deep-diving crankbaits are effectively triggering reaction strikes from schools of bass holding on structure.

Our primary targets remain largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. While the midday sun can slow down the bite, focusing on proper depth management and high-quality electronics continues to put fish in the boat. If you are planning a trip soon, be prepared for early starts; the first three hours of the morning are often the most productive time of the day for trophy-class fish.

Ready to put these patterns to the test? If you are looking to improve your ledge fishing skills or simply want to have a productive day on the water, book your guided fishing charter with Norman Lee Fishing. We provide all the professional gear and local expertise needed to ensure a successful day on the lake.

It's Time to get NASTY!

Fishing conditions around Cleveland are looking promising this June as warm spring waters continue to energize local fish activity. Lakes like Hiwassee and Chickamauga are producing good catches of largemouth bass and crappie, especially in early mornings and late afternoons when fish feed more actively. Water temperatures are steadily climbing into the mid-70s°F, creating ideal conditions for bass to move into shallow coves and submerged vegetation, perfect for anglers using soft plastics and crankbaits.

Crappie fishing is also picking up near submerged brush piles and docks, with jigging and small minnows proving effective. Catfish remain active throughout the Tennessee River and nearby tributaries; try drifting with cut bait or night fishing for the best results. With summer approaching, now is a great time to plan your trip and take advantage of these active species. Keep an eye on local weather and water levels for optimal fishing windows, and don’t forget to check regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable outing.

Prime Spots and Techniques for a Successful Cleveland Fishing Trip

Today's trip was a pure blast being able to hang out with John Pummell Jr. & Jeremy Allen Sr. from Arcadia, Florida. Unfortunately, the bigger bites were scarce today but was able to lean back into some decent numbers.
